Louise: that’s me.
In my professional life, I go by E.L. Bates. I am an independently published author (you may find my first book here), living on Massachusetts’ north shore. My husband Carl is a scholar and a theologian, currently working on a double MA in Biblical Languages and New Testament.
We have two daughters, who go by Joy and Grace on my blogs and public social media. I used to post pictures of them, but they are getting old enough now that the only pictures I will share are ones where you can’t make out their features. Which is a bummer, because they’re adorable and photogenic, but oh well.
I teach both girls at home, which gives us plenty of time for adventures.
We live in a small apartment on campus, and are learning the rhythms of interacting with neighbors and dwelling in small spaces. We spend as much time as possible outside, either at the beach or in the woods or even simply puttering about our small patch of community garden and playing at the playground and park.
We also spend a lot of time at our local library. I am a voracious reader, and Carl and I are doing our best to pass that trait on to our girls. So far, we seem to be succeeding.
In between adventures, school, and writing, I seek to live in awareness and thankfulness and joy. It doesn’t always work, but my hope is that blogging such things will help me in those goals.
